SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Aircraft Maintenance Conservator supports the Ingenium mandate by, maintaining, the collection of scientific, technological, aviation and space related objects by ensuring access to and longevity of the collection through object treatment, long term preservation, hazard management, research, advising and developing guidelines and practices for the treatment, handling, preservation, and use of the collection.

This term position will review and summarize maintenance documentation related to Ingenium’s restoration of its Canadair C-54GM North Star aircraft (17515). This position will review previous North Star restoration Plans, Work Orders and Task Cards, and report on the status of completed and outstanding work.

This position will report to the Manager, Conservation, and will work in collaboration with the Conservator, Aircraft Maintenance for Project North Star, and skilled volunteers of the Project North Star Association of Canada.

 

EDUCATION

A College Diploma (Aviation Technician- Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Technician- Avionics Maintenance, or Aviation Technician- Aircraft Structural Repair Technician)
A combination of the above mentioned
Meets the Transport Canada regulatory requirement for “Experience” as it pertains to obtaining an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license.
 

CERTIFICATION

 

Holds a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, (AME) License (or in process of obtaining, or retired with a valid AME license)
Holds a valid Driver’s license held under Canadian jurisdiction
 

TRAINING

WHIMIS
Elevated work platform training
Working at Heights training
Human Factors in Aviation (Maintenance / Operations)
 

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years’ experience working within the aviation industry (5 years of which, under the Canadian Aircraft Regulations, on certified aircraft).
Extensive experience generating and interpreting aircraft maintenance technical documentation.
Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.  
Experience handling a variety of aircraft and associated sub-assemblies. 
Experience servicing, repairing, modifying and trouble-shooting aircraft 
Experience handling hazardous materials
Experience working with maintenance control software, or condition reporting software
Experience maintaining, interpreting and reporting logbooks, records and certificates 

 Language Requirement: English
