Position Purpose
The purpose of the position is to work in conjunction with the Lead Aircraft Engineer and the Lead Pilots
to maintain YRP’s aircraft, both rotary and fixed. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position is
responsible for maintaining records, forecasting maintenance needs and ensuring all YRP’s aircraft is
sound, reliable and airworthy.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain YRP’s aircraft in conjunction with the maintenance program.
Conduct and coordinate all maintenance needs required for the airworthiness of all YRP aircraft.
Manage risk involving flight operations and maintenance.
Assist the Lead Aircraft Engineer in maintaining and implementing the maintenance control
system and manuals and standard operating procedures.
Maintain and implement the maintenance control system and standard operating procedure
manuals.
Forecast the maintenance needs of the aircraft and anticipate prolonged maintenance grounding.
Log maintenance on the provided maintenance tracking software.
Comply with Canadian Aviation Regulations CAR’s relating to aircraft maintenance.
Repair/resolve any unexpected maintenance issue in a timely fashion.
Coordinate with vendors on items requiring repair.
Issue directives and notices to the flight crews as required relating to maintenance.
Maintain a safe hangar environment by keeping hangar organized and clean.
Assist the pilots and TFO with taking the aircraft out from the hangar and then returning it to the
hangar.
Ensure aircraft is not returned to service unless it is airworthy.
Assist the Lead Aircraft Engineer to forecast what parts are likely to defect and locate and stock
spare aircraft parts.
Assume any responsibility delegated by the operations manager.
In conjunction with the Lead Aircraft Engineer, provide assistance to the operations manager with
all aspects of flight operations including forecasting budget costs.
Accurately record all maintenance activity in a timely and specified manner and input into the
system prior to the aircraft being permitted to fly.
Maintain confidentiality of information.

Education, Licensing & Certifications
Successful completion of a college diploma in a Transport Canada approved AME program of
study, or the equivalent training and experience.
Certified Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license with an M1 and/or M2
endorsement.

Mandatory Experience
Greater than 5 years of previous experience as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
Candidate must have completed a Transport Canada approved course on type AS350.
Hold or able to hold an (ACA) aircraft certification authority on the AS350 B3.

Preferred Qualifications
Greater than 5 years experience maintaining turbine helicopters.
Greater than 5 years experience maintaining an AS350.
Previous experience maintaining fixed wing piston aircrafts.

Skills
Able to act as the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM) as required by Transport Canada
for fixed wing and helicopter 604 operations.
Able to qualify to be the person responsible for maintenance in accordance to CAR’s 573
(preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge of risk management involving flight operations and maintenance.
Demonstrated decision-making abilities and good judgement.
Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Ability to focus on the primary task and change focus when required.
Communication and interpersonal skills to interact and coordinate solutions with the Operations
Manager, Lead Pilot, Unit Supervisor, TFO, external vendors, police aviation units and Transport
Canada.

Additional Comments
Ability to report to other locations in the GTA.
Ability to work both day and night shifts.
Ability to be on stand by and return to duty when called.
Incumbent may be required to travel outside of Canada.
