What: The AME Association of Ontario's Leadership PD Certificate Course for Supervisors/Leaders/Managers - "Understanding Mental Health Issues in the Workplace" (online module) and "Dealing with Difficult People" (in-person)
Cost:
$225 + HST per attendee for Current AME Association of Ontario Corporate Members
$300 + HST per attendee for Non-Corporate Members
(includes lunch from noon -1pm, day of the in-person session)
Who Should Attend: AME Leaders, Managers, Supervisors and Team Leads
What: Mental Health issues are some of the greatest contributors to workplace accidents, stress leave, absenteeism, conflict and poor work output. Managers play a crucial role in identifying, managing and addressing these issues, but the challenges are confusing and sometimes overwhelming for leaders, who are not mental health professionals. This AME-sponsored training program provides information, skills and interactive exercises to give leaders the tools to address these issues with confidence.
Format: Hybrid (1 online module + 1 in-person module)

COURSE INFO - LEADERS SESSION:
Course Title - Understanding and Addressing Mental Health Issues and Dealing with Difficult People in the Workplace
SUMMARY OF TRAINING:
AME Association of Ontario offers this 2-part Certification Program to our members to support you in your training and accreditation learning goals. You will receive Professional Development Credits for your successful completion of the training courses.
Part 1: ONLINE COURSE (40 minutes)
To be completed prior to live workshop
Understanding Mental Health Issues in the Workplace:
In this online course by leading psychologist Dr. Stephanie Bot, participants will gain a broad foundational understanding of the various mental disorders and how you may see them present in the workplace.
You will learn to:
• Understand stigma and ways to overcome it
• Identify 6 common mental disorders that typically present in the workplace
• Recognize signs of difficulty in employees/colleagues
• Learn how to approach and support colleagues/employees who may have a mental health issue
• Identify the barriers for employees in seeking and receiving help
• Learn about support resources
Part 2: LIVE TRAINING (3 hours in person)
Dealing with Difficult People:
We all encounter difficult people at work and at home. Dealing with them effectively means not only learning to manage our own reactions and communication style, but also being able to identify and understand what's really going on with that difficult person in the workplace.
In this informative training workshop you will:
• Understand the 3 different types of difficult person
• Learn skills to manage the difficult person
• Manage your reactions to the difficult person

In today’s job environment, Certifications are essential to our reputation, professional growth and self-confidence.
Leadership participants will leave this 2-part training program equipped with information and tools on understanding and addressing workplace mental health issues.
Participants will receive 2 Professional Development Certificates:
1. Foundational Skills for Understanding Mental Health issues in the Workplace upon completion of the online course

2. Advanced Skills on Addressing Mental Health Issues in the Workplace upon completion of the in-person workshop.
